Fourth-Year P&S Students Match to Residencies

Orthopedic surgery and internal medicine continue to be popular specialties for P&S students. This year's residency match on March 15 showed 27 students matching to internal medicine programs from coast to coast and 15 students matching to orthopedic surgery residencies. The 154 members of the Class of 2013 who participated in the match also matched in high numbers in pediatrics (15), surgery (14), anesthesiology (11), and emergency medicine (11). The 14 graduates matching to general surgery residencies included more women than usual. Seven students in the class are either deferring residency or pursuing other paths after graduation, including business and postdoc opportunities. This year's match included six graduates from previous years.
